As the sublime football displayed by the Super Falcons at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup continues to generate positive vibes across the globe, Ashleigh Plumptre says she prefers Randy Waldrum to remain as the head coach of the team, reports www.totorinews.com

The Super Falcons defender said that Waldrum has put in a lot of work into the team and it will be better for the American to lead the team ahead of the 2024  Olympics qualifying games.

She admitted that it was Waldrum that brought her into the Super Falcons, stressing further that the switch from England to play for Nigeria would not having been possible without the input of Waldrum.

“I will prefer Randy to continue leading this team. For me to get into this team, he gave me a chance to play for Nigeria,” Ashleigh Plumptre told www.totorinews.com in Brisbane, Australia.

“He probably didn’t know me very well. Nevertheless, he gave me and some new players the chance to play for the Falcons.

“Obviously, he has done well at this World Cup and it was not a coincidence. The team gave great performances in all the games played and I am super proud.

“He has put in a lot of work, time and e energy into this team and done a lot behind the scenes.

“I am hoping he can continue doing what he is doing, as we look forward to the Olympics qualifiers and other tournaments,” she said.

Meanwhile, Waldrum says he is keen to continue as the head of the team, but the decision is with the leadership of NFF.

““I am proud of my team. I want to stay with this team and continue working towards the Olympics, but that is not a matter for me to decide,” Randy Waldrum admitted.
