Jannik Sinner kisses his first US Open trophy

Italian Jannik Sinner produced a master- piece of tennis, as he defeated Taylor Fritz to win the US Open for the first time on Sunday, evening, reports www.totorinews.com.

Sinner became the first Italian man to win the US Open title after beating freezing Fritz in a flawless fashion.

The world No 1 defeated the American in straight sets on Arthur Ashe to complete a fine tournament and add this crown to the title he won in Australia.

This remarkable feat happened six months after a gram of clostebol was found in a sample of his urine and 19 days since he was publicly certified clean of dopping.

The 2024 Australian open champion demonstrated strong mental ability to triumph over Fritz after being faced with a weighty allegations of dope use in sports, but a convincing 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 victory over home favourite sealed his status as one of the tennis stars that will be on the podium a long time.

‘This title for me means so much because the last months were very difficult, I think you all know what I went through,’ Sinner said

‘I would like to dedicate this title to my aunt, she is really not feeling well and I don’t know how long she will be in my life. It’s so nice that I can share this moment with her. She is a very important person in my life.’ he added.

Fritz, whom a lot of Americans gave their support to win the US Open after Andy Roddrick became the last American to win it in 2003 admitted after the match that he had a bad day on the court.

“I’m pretty disappointed in how I played, how I hit certain shots. It sucks. I just would have liked to have played better and given myself a better chance,” Fritz said.
