Still basking in the euphoria of Super Eagles 2-0 win over the Central African Republic on Sunday, Hapoel Jerusalem goalkeeper, Adebayo Adeleye has expressed his delight over Nigeria’s comeback win over one of Africa’s football minnows.
Speaking to www.totorinews.com from his Tel Aviv base after the game, the former Golden Eaglets star described the win as a huge relief after the Les Fauves shocked bookmakers by beating Super Eagles 1-0 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium to end Nigeria’s 40 years home invincibility in the World Cup qualifier.
He then showered encomium on the coaching crew for digging deeper into their technical books of tricks to devour the Wild Beasts in Douala. Adeleye then lauded the players for their mental strength, stressing that such shocking defeats tend to affect players’ morale in subsequent games.
” I can’t describe how relieved I was when I saw the result because people had already given up on the team after their 1-0 defeat in Lagos
“That is why it’s football; you sometimes have a bad day in the office no matter how hard you try, but thank goodness Nigeria is back in contention.
” We need to keep supporting the coaching crew and the players no matter how bad things turn out, only then can they give us the desired result. I know Super Eagles will continue to get better,” he said.
Hailed by Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu for his excellent goalkeeping skills between the sticks, Leye vowed to keep working around the clock as he looks forward to a possible call -up to the Super Eagles.
” I will keep working hard and hopefully wait for my call-up. The coaches are doing their best to get every good player involved in the project, and that is good for the national team. I know my moment will come,” said the 21-years old goaltender.
