Super Eagles celebrate their goal against Pharoahs

The Super Eagles of Nigeria began the 33rd AFCON on a winning note by beating the Pharoahs of Egypt 1-0, courtesy of Kelechi Iheanacho’s wonder strike in the 30th minute.

Maduka Okoye 
Debuting on the African football fiesta, Maduka Okoye did not betray any emotions. He was calm and well positioned to ward off the attacks of Pharoahs led by Mohammed Salah. It was great as he denied Salah in the 71st minute in what would have become the equaliser

Ola Aina
Very prominent on the pitch defending and joining the attack of the Super Eagles. The Torino Fc of Italy defender had a good game.

Zaidu Sanusi 
The Porto Fc defender also had his debut in AFCON and it was a solid display from him. 
Score Card : 6/10

Williams Troost Ekong
Ekong had a very decent  game in the Central defence of the Super Eagles. Though, his wrong timing would have caused Nigeria a goal in the 71st minute when he allowed Salah to be on- side.

Kenneth Omeruo
Omeruo was the star – performer in the defence of the Super Eagles. He was very impressive, not only defending, but also with his passes as a libero. He initiated the move that led to Nigeria’s goal.
Score Card : 7/10

Wilfred Ndidi
Always a delight to behold in the midfield of the Super Eagles. He marshalled the midfield well.
Score Card : 6/10

Joe Aribo 
The Glasgow Rangers midfielder, who is another debutant did not disappoint. He had a good understanding with Ndidi in the midfield as they took over the midfield from the Egyptians.

Score Card : 6/10

Samuel Chukwueze 
The Villareal Fc of Spain was a bit quiet. Though, he still showed some scintillating display to trouble the Egyptian defence.

Moses Simon 

The most lively on the pitch was Moses Simon. He was a torn in the flesh of the Egyptians all through and he contributed to the goal scored by Kelechi Iheanacho.
He is also the man of the match as adjudged by www.totorinews.com

Kelechi Iheanacho
There is no doubt that Kelechi Iheanacho is a sublime finisher as seen with his superb strike in the 30th minute. He should have scored a brace at least.

Taiwo Awoniyi

Awoniyi troubled the Egyptian defenders all through his presence  on the pitch. He was unlucky not to have scored for his efforts.
Score Card : 6/10

Sadiq Umar came in for Taiwo Awoniyi. He had showed some attacking prowess.
Score Card : 5/10

Chidera Ejuke 
He came in and threatened the Egyptian goalkeeper on few occasions. As another debutant in AFCON, he can always get better as the tournament progresses. 

Score Card : 6/10

Semi Ajayi
Replaced Kenneth Omeruo, who was injured. Ajayi did well to deny the Egyptian attackers.

Score Card : 5/10

Alex Iwobi
Iwobi replaced Simon. The Everton midfield complimented the efforts of his teammates.

Score Card : 5/10

Kelechi Nwakali
It was one Kelechi out and another Kelechi as Iheanacho,the goal scorer came out for Nwakali to have a feel of the action. Not too much seen as the time tickled away.
