One of the revelations in the just concluded first phase camping exercise of the Golden Eaglets in Abuja, Simon ‘Dada’ Cletus is back to school, reports www.totorinews.com.
The young midfielder, a JSS 3 student of Palmville College in Lagos State was a delight to watch during the training sessions and some of the friendly games he featured for the Golden Eaglets, particularly in the friendly game against Kano Pillars’ main team where he made an assist, leading to the third goal scored by the Eaglets in the 3-1 defeat of the former NPFL champions.
The Mavlon FC player will clock 15 years in a couple of days, but his football artistry as an attacking midfielder, especially his intelligence is way above his age and it is such a beauty to inform he is a classical example of a bright future for Nigeria football.
Interestingly, there are other secondary school students in the present Golden Eaglets that have also shown great promises like the duo of Charles Agada and Light Eke.
Eke scored two goals for Nigeria at WAFU B tournament where Golden Eaglets emerged as champions.
Little wonder that Nigeria paraded the youngest team in the last two editions of WAFU B tournaments, which can be attributed to the sound policy of the Nigeria Football Federation ( NFF), that insisted on registering only players on grade 1 – 4 of the MRI results.
