Seyi Akinwummi Charity Mini -Tournament Is All About Giving Hope

In a world filled with anguish and struggles for survival, Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi has said that his annual Charity Cup is all about giving hope to indigent children, reports www.totorinews.com.

The former 1st Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), disclosed this to the media in Abuja on Tuesday, adding that about 400 children are warming up to take part at this year’s event slated for 29 December at the Maracana stadium, Ajegunle, Lagos State.

“We are going to have about 400 children playing football simultaneously because we are having it at the Maracana stadium in Ajegunle, Lagos. It will be a day of fun,”Barrister Akinwunmi said.

“My motivating factor is to give children hope you know without hope there is no life so a lot of these children will be amazed,” he added.

Speaking further, he recounted the encounter he had in Ilorin recently where he met one of the beneficiaries of his charity foundation at a wedding event.

“I went to Illorin few weeks ago and one of the guardians of one of the children, I think maybe 2018 just saw me and came to meet me.

“You know you won’t believe how you changed that family’s life, but I don’t know how come, but before we left that wedding, she went to bring the parents and the child.

“But really that’s what it is all about, giving hope to children. The child has finished secondary school now and he is presently studying at the University of Illorin.

“So, when you give someone hope you are building life for them and that’s what I want to do, even those who didn’t get scholarship or don’t play anything or having to go there and just have food and drink and play with people, it changes their life.

“There is a child who came from Borno from the IDP camp and when they were leaving, he said I can’t leave my best friend and the best friend came from Ogun state and so you must understand these things and that’s what will happen. It is all about hope.

“This is the 10th anniversary , we have insurance now, the players, the balls,.the pitch is good, we have security, we have everything and most of all, we have God’s grace,” he concluded.
