The Chairman Rangers Intl Fc Foundation Coach Ebere Amaraizu has described mental health as that which is needed by every person in order to function and perform optimally in their daily activities and life endeavours.
He made this known on Wednesday during the interface with children and young persons at the ongoing catch them young holiday table tennis clinic at the indoor sports hall of enugu state sports council organized by Enugu state table tennis association in partnership with Enugu state ministry of youth and sports , Rangers international fc Foundation and Cope and live mental health awareness foundation.
According to Amaraizu ,everyone needs mental health awareness education including the athletes.It will help to promote psychological well being as well as enhancing cognitive ,emotional ,intellectual and social capabilities amongst others .
This has become necessary because if any of these aspects of an individuals psychology is facing some form of disturbance,it will affect the entire being and hinder performance and healthy living as well as satisfying lives.
He however advised on the need for all and sundry to make haste to prioritize issues around mental health by taking necessary steps to manage stress,build resilience(mental resilience)as well seeking professional support when the need arises.
On her part ,the Executive Director Cope and Live Mental Health awareness Foundation ,Reverend Chukwudiebube Nwachukwu welcomed all the participants and informed them of the numerous life changing experience and impactful community programmes embarked upon by cope and live mental health awareness foundation geared towards raising societal awareness/education on mental health and maintained that the foundation is working with relevant partners like Rangers intl fc foundation ,ASTRICNG,CAPIONG,INECAS amongst others towards raising the awareness and addressing issues around mental health and general well being .
In her engagement Mrs Uzoamaka Nwachukwu a life coach and counsellor of cope and live mental health awareness foundation ,expose participants to dangers of anger,anxiety,overthinking and other emotions as well as its triggers and how they can be managed .She also engaged them with some mental work engagement on identifying emotions and naming them under safe awareness.
The Enugu state table tennis Association Coach Chris Catika thanked Rangers Intl fc Foundation and Cope and Live mental health awareness foundation for the life changing engagement for the children which will help them to function very well as prospective table tennis athletes .
The catch them young holiday FREE table tennis clinic will terminate at the of the August,2024 .Meanwhile some of the participants who spoke expressed their joy for knowledge and education on mental health and promised to put the knowledge acquired into practice for good mental and well being.
There was appreciation and presentation of souvenir for various group leaders by cope and live mental health awareness foundation.
