Delta State will dominate national sports festival for many years due to the strong template and investment given to the development of sports in the state, reports www.totorinews.com.
This was the candid expression of an official, who wants to remain annoymous as a civil servant, he insisted that other states in Nigeria will continue to play second fiddle to Delta State, adding that talents not just enough to dominate, but solid motivation is very key.
“Delta State will continue to make strong statement of dominance at the national sports festival, other states can only do catch up. The advantage is that, many states are crawling to catch up with Delta State.
He continued, “We have template for sports in the state. We have talents across the state and we have strong investment in the sports sector.
“I must admit that Chief Tonobok Okowa, the chairman of Delta State commission has done very well for the development of sports in the state. It is very obvious for every unbiased people to acknowledge.
“We are not joking. I can tell you that we know how many medals our team would win at the end of this sports festival. It is all about planning and projections for the future of the state,” he said.
At the 21st edition of the national sports festival on – going in Asaba, Team Delta is currently topping the table with eight gold medals, four silver medals and two bronze medals.
The games festival will end next weekend.
