NO NIGERIAN STRIKER CAN BENCH IGHALO IN SUPER EAGLES NOW – SIASIA

Samson Siasia, former Nigeria International and star of USA ’94 World Cup has said that no Nigerian striker can bench Odion Jude Ighalo in the Super Eagles at the moment, totorinews.com exclusively reports.

Siasia informed that the goals scoring form of Ighalo in the double header games against Libya where he scored five goals has made him the undisputable striker to start the game against the Bafana Bafana of  South Africa in a forthnight, baring unforseen circumstances like injury prior to the crucial African Nations Cup qualifying game.

“I don’t think there is any Nigerian striker that can relegate Odion Ighalo to the bench in the Super Eagles. No Nigerian striker can bench Ighalo now. He has delivered on the job assigned to him, which is to get goals for Nigeria and when you considered the fact he scored five goals in two games against Libya last month, that is enough to tell the world that the striker is unstoppable.” Siasia said.

There is no denying the fact that the former captain of the Flying Eagles had a terrible World Cup in Russia where a lot of football followers criticised him especially for his dismal performance against Argentina, but Siasia said further that Ighalo has shown strong mental quality to bounce back to reckoning in the Super Eagles.

“I know the quality of Ighalo. Many people might have forgotten that he played under me in Flying Eagles at the 2009 FIFA Under 20 World Cup in Egypt. He is a very determined player to excel, to win games for his team.”

“Nigerians were not happy with him for what happened at the world cup. He was criticised everywhere, but at the moment, Nigerians cannot think of any striker that can sideline him to the bench. I cannot think of any striker myself and that is football for you,” Siasia said.
