Ahead of the NFF Presidential Elections tentatively scheduled for September 20,2022, many aspirants have already indicated their interests to vie for the lofty seat. And one of the football administrators expected to throw his hat into the ring has only shown his hand and yet to declare his interest officially, is Alhaji Abba Abdulahi Yola, who is presently the Chief Of Staff to the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare.

In a special message to the delegates on Wednesday, the former Senior Special Adviser to the Director General of the National Sports Commission, narrated his desire to head the NFF which started eight years ago, when he contested against the incumbent President Amaju Pinnick in Warri.

“As God would have it I, with about five others lost to Mr Amaju Melvin Pinnick in a free and fair elections. I personally hold no grudge or bear any pain for losing to Mr Amaju Pinnick. Four years after Warri, we were all in Katsina for a similar exercise.
“The 4 years election circle, which in my belief will bring the leadership of this present  NFF board to its 8 years (2014 – 2022) constitutional tenure, is almost over, with another election coming up in September 2022″.

Continuing the Chiroma Yola said, “For those of us that have seen the 8 years going down,we must first of all thank God for the blessings of life.
“Several brothers, sisters and friends have not made it to this day. To Him be the glory. As preparations are in top gear for another round of Elections in September 2022, I am one of those fervently waiting and praying for a well defined road map for the elections.

“Once the road map is released and turns out to be friendly and accommodating, I shall officially declare my interest to vie for the seat again.”
The highly experienced sports administrator appealed to all congress members to fashion out a road map for a fair and free elections. Even as he recognised the roles of the congress members in shaping the way forward, he went on to appeal to them to consider the country first and the importance of association football to Nigeria.

As he wished and prayed for a very fruitful and successful congress, he reminded them that the world football family will have their eyes and ears on what happens in NIgeria in the next couple of weeks beginning from tomorrow, Thursday.
