Mikel remain a leader in the Eagles – Etebo

Despite missing the presence of Mikel Obi in the last two games played by the Super Eagles, Oghenekaro Etebo has said that the former Chelsea of England player remains the leader in the team.

Etebo disclosed this in a chat with www.totorinews.com in Uyo as he revealed that the experience of Mikel is a strong motivating factor in the Super Eagles and his leadership qualities are always sought after whenever he is in camp with the team.

“Yes. We have played two games without our captain, Mikel and he is still the leader in the team. Other players did well and we wish Mikel to regain his fitness soon.” Etebo said.

Nigeria defeated Libya 4-0 on Saturday and the team is expected to travel out of the country on Monday to Sfax, Tunisia for the reverse fixture and Etebo is very optimistic that the team will get a favourable result at the end of 90minutes. He, however admitted that the game will be very difficult.

“We know that Libya have good players in their team. We might have defeated 4-0 , but that will not remove the fact that the team is very good and we need to be focused all through the game to get the result that will make Nigerians happy.

“We want to qualify for the Nations Cup. That is our focus going into the game against Libya on Tuesday,” he said.
