Malian Football Federation Appoints Tom Saintfiet as New National Team Coach

In a significant move to enhance the performance of the Mali national team, the Malian Football Federation (FEMAFOOT) has officially named Tom Saintfiet as the new head coach www.totorinews.com can confirm.

The experienced Belgian coach brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role, having previously worked in various countries, including Gambia, the Philippines, Tanzania, Nigeria, Togo, Namibia, Malawi, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe.

 

Saintfiet’s impressive track record includes guiding Gambia to their maiden Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) appearance in 2022, where they reached the quarter-finals. The 51-year-old coach has signed a two-year contract with the possibility of an extension based on his performance.

 

The primary objectives set for Saintfiet include qualifying Mali for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and reaching the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

 

Although he will not be on the bench for the upcoming matches against Mozambique and Eswatini, Saintfiet is expected to be present to assess the team’s performance.
