The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the registration for UTME and Direct Entry by two weeks and it will now end on May 29.
It also announced a new date for the conduct of the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
This was disclosed by
JAMB Registrar, Ishaq Oloyede, after a stakeholders’ meeting in Abuja on Saturday, adding that the mock exam would now take place on May 29, 2021.
“Field reports showed a huge improvement in the processes. As of today, 1,134,424 candidates have so far registered.
“Accordingly, 2021 mock UTME earlier scheduled to hold for 28th May 2021 will now hold on the third of June 2021 while the main UTME will now hold on June 29th-July 3, 2021.”
He said this became necessary following continuous complaints by candidates in their attempts to generate the required codes towards setting up profile codes using their unique national identification number (NIN).
He charged prospective candidates and other users who have not received a response from 55019 to be patient and send their tracking ID or NIN to firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Those who had obtained their NIN through unauthorised sources will have to go to NIMC office to resolve their challenges. NIMC further pledged to deploy special monitoring teams, and to sanction any NIMC agent found extorting candidates in the cause of enrolment,” he said.
Stating main cause some candidates were finding difficulties in the registration, Oloyode said most of them were using methods to generate profiles codes.
He, however said these candidates should stick to using only their numbers to send the message to 55019, as he noted that in some instances, a candidate, his mother and father will send same message to 55019 with different mobile numbers, which is also a problem for the telecommunications companies.
