All the 20 teams participating in the Nigeria Professional Football League ( NPFL) will start the season with N25m each, given by the IMC to navigate teething financial problems, reports www.totorinews.com.
According to a reliable source, the Interim Management Committee ( IMC) is fully committed to the growth of the NPFL and understands the financial challenges faced by the teams, especially at this time that the 2023 general elections is the number one priority of many state governors in Nigeria.
“You know that most of these teams are sponsored by their state governments and the 2023 general elections is around the corner, it is for this reason that each team will have N25m as take off grants to cushion the effect of starting the league,” the reliable source.
“N10m naira was given to the four teams that participated in the NPFL Pre – Season tournament few weeks ago. We fully understand the times we are in and we will do everything necessary to help these clubs.
“We want the best for Nigeria football and we must start the process from the NPFL. We strongly hope that the coming season will give Nigerians many positive things to remember,” he said.
