Exclusive : Super Eagles players, officials rally support for Sadiq Umar

Having opened his goal scoring account for Nigeria in the game against Guinea Bissau, Super Eagles players and officials have rallied support for Sadiq Umar to continue to improve his game, reports www.totorinews.com exclusively. 

The likes of Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon, Jamilu Colins, Zaidu Sanusi, Wilfred Ndidi have all encouraged Umar to get better in the tournament,  noting that he is a quality striker worthy of delivering the goods of scoring goals for Nigeria. 

So, football loving Nigerians should not be worried. Umar, with his goalscoring record in Spain where he has scored over 40 goals in two seasons will surely come very good for the Super Eagles ahead of the round 16 cracker with Tunisia.

Speaking to www.totorinews.com in Garoua, Cameroon, an official of the team, who wants to be anonymous said that Umar will definately click in the attack of the Super Eagles, insisting that all he wants to see is for Umar to re- enact what he does in training sessions in the match game proper.

“We know the quality of Sadiq Umar. Ask his teammates here in Super Eagles camp, they will tell you. He is a striker, who has a scored a goal already in the tournament and that goal is a morale booster to him, ” the official, an AFCON winning coach said.

“All the officials in the team are not ignorant of his quality. We know what will see in training sessions and we just hope that he will repeat what he does in these training sessions during match game itself.

“Most of the players here are debutant including Sadiq. He is very humble and eager to learn new things. Nigerians should just calm down and continue to pray for the team to continue to progress in the tournament.

“We have three natural strikers here. Taiwo Awoniyi, who also has a goal like Umar to his name in this tournament and Peter Olayinka and we are very optimistic that these strikers have the quality to deliver,” he said.

Nigeria will trade tackles with Tunisia for the quarter – final slot at the Stade Roumdé Adjia on Sunday.
