Nigeria is a country flowing with rich abundance of untapped football talents as seen in the case of Olubi Adams, who is skillfully enriched with football at his feet, but lacking the opportunity to be exposed to the world.
Fortunately, the story of the 18 – year old footballer, who hailed from Ugbokolo community in Benue state, changed for good when he was seen and scouted in Otukpo and he became a player of Mavlon Football Club, based in the town.
Adams was scouted by the Mavlon FC chief scout, Paul Olayemi Ogunlaja alongside the managements partner, Adegboyega Adeyemi of Zanda sports right in the hearts of Otukpo in April 2021.
The football scouting tournament was first of its kind tournament in the entire Benue South senatorial constituency and the organisers were thrilled with diverse football skillful performances from the young footballers on parade.
Adams was a very shinning light at the tournament, a top scorer with five goals and this feat took him to Lagos with U 19 team of Mavlon FC, where the team participated in a tournament hosted by Kiddos recreational activities and kidsport management, which was gracefully sponsored by Mavlon Consult management.
Legacy pitch ground at the Surulere national stadium witnessed sublime football artistry from Adams. He scored six goals from five games and every football fan and coaches appreciated his game.
And when it is your time, you are unstoppable. So, shortly after, Adams moved to Femmak Fc and from there he found himself in Europe in the colours of FK Žalgiris of Lithuania after excelling while on trials with the club.
The energetic attacker did not waste time to cement his place in the team, as he was very pivotal to helping his team win the league cup and the A Liga championship in Lithuania last month.
“Winning two trophies in Europe is like a dream for me. I’m happy. Though I never thought I would achieve these so suddenly,” Olubi Adams told www.totorinews.com exclusively.
“To think that I was in Otukpo at the beginning of the year 2021, but as the year is ending, I’m already a footballer playing in Europe and had won two trophies is enough for me to thank God for the opportunity created by Mavlon Consult football scouting tournament in Otukpo.
“I will continue to work hard to keep improving my game in Europe. It is not easy but with determination and discipline, I hope to continue to get better,” he said.
