After reaching the semi- final of the US Open, Britain’a Jack Draper has continued with his fine form, as he is through to the Japan Open last 16 following a straight- set win over Mattia Bellucci, reports www.totorinews.com.
Draper, ranked 20th in the world, defeated the Italian 6-4 6-2 as he marked his first victory after losing to Jannik Sinner in the US Open semi- final earlier this month.
It was also a victory that signalled a return to winning ways after a poor performance Davis Cup fixtures in Manchester where he lost his two singles matches.
The British tennis star was beaten in straight sets by Francisco Cerundolo of Argentina and Felis Auger- Aliassime of Canada as Great Britain failed to reach the knockout stage of Davis Cup.
In Japan Open, it was a different Draper that was seen on the court, as he dispatched the world no 103 Bellucci in a devastating form where he opened up 5-1 lead before sealing victory.
Draper will play Polish second seed Hubert Hurkacz for a place in the quarter – final on Friday.
