Nigerian International and Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze on Monday won the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award against Getafe.
He was presented with the award after scoring and providing assist to teammate, Jose Luis Morales in a match that ended 2-1.
Getafe scored first and almost got the second before Villarreal came from behind to score through Chukwueze from a rebound from Capoue’s shot in the 44th minutes.
Meanwhile, the Villarreal winger dribbled past two Getafe players before he square-passed the ball to Morales who made no mistake netting the second goal to help the Groguets end their losing streak.
Chukwueze was later substituted in the 87th minutes with a standing ovation by fans of the Villarreal.
The Yellow Submarines are now placed seventh position on the log table with 34 points from 23 matches while their opponent, Getafe who they defeated are presently seated in the relegation zone, 19th position.
Speaking to the press after the match, Chukwueze said he is optimistic that they will continue to do well and their target is to get one of the UEFA champions league tickets at stake.
