After surviving the scare from the Crocodiles of Lesotho, the Super Eagles are capable of beating Zimbabwe, says Donald Malomo – Paris, reports www.totorinews.com.
According to the UEFA Licenced coach, Super Eagles players should put behind them the shocking 1-1 home draw with Lesotho and play quality football, filled with strong winning mentality against the Brave Warriors of Zimbabwe on Sunday.
“Beating Zimbabwe is up to the Super Eagles players. We know the quality they showcase at the various clubs in Europe every weekend and I believe that same quality can be performed to help Nigeria beat Zimbabwe,” Malomo – Paris said.
“I don’t want to dwell on the coaching part. I just want to focus on the players. I am sure that they might have had a meeting after the game amongst themselves to talk about the way forward.
“The way forward is for the players to improve from what we saw against Lesotho. The team must play with urgency, quick transition from defence to attack, while hoping that the strikers will be clinical.
“If a teammate loses the ball, others should quickly cover up and make sure that the ball is retrieved to the advantage of Nigeria.
“What happened against Lesotho is a wake-up call. It will not be easy against Zimbabwe and I am glad that Eagles know that already.
“However, it will be heartwarming to see the Super Eagles beat Zimbabwe and it is possible, but they must work hard for it,” he said.
At the time of filing this report, South Africa, the main rival to Nigeria on Group C is leading Benin Republic 2-0 at the end of first half.
