APC joins Akwa Ibomites to mourn demise of State PDP chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC), Akwa Ibom State Chapter has joined millions of PDP members in Akwa Ibom to mourn the shocking and sudden demise of the State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State, Obong Udo Ekpenyong.

Obong Ekpenyong was a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and a one time Political Adviser in the government of His Excellency Obong Victor Attah.

According to statement signed by Mr. Nkereuwem Enyongekere, the APC State Publicity Secretary, the APC prays for the family and loved ones to be comforted.

“The APC family is deeply saddened by his untimely death which, according to the PDP’s announcement is traceable to COVID-19 complications.

APC family shares in the emotion and the grief of this great loss. Our heartfelt condolences go to the late Chairman’s family, the PDP family and the State Governor, His Excellency Deacon Udom Emmanuel.”

Obong Udo Ekpenyong attended the funeral of Ini Okopido, the late chairman of APC, on Saturday, December 5 at Ikot Akpan Anwa village in Ika LGA.

The late PDP chairman would be be remembered for leading his party to victory in his first and only election, the 2020 local government elections which APC boycotted on allegations of unfairness.
