APC crisis worsens, governors demand NWC reinstate members suspended by Oshiomhole

Crisis rocking All Progressive Congress (APC) took a worsening turn as governors elected on the platform of the party demanded that members suspended by Adams Oshiomhole-led NWC should be reinstated.

The APC governors made this known in a memo by Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF)’s director-general Salihu Lukman on Friday, March 6. Oshiomhole has been embroiled in a volatile whirlpool of contention and was recently suspended as the national chairman of APC by a Federal High Court in Abuja pending a suit seeking his removal.

The former Edo governor will know his fate when the ruling party holds its national working committee meeting on Tuesday, March 17 with President Muhammadu Buhari expected to be in attendance.

But ahead of the meeting, APC governors demanded that the working committee lift the suspension placed on some members of the party by Oshiomhole, Daily Trust reports.

Legit.ng notes that among those suspended by Oshiomhole include Lawal Shuaibu, who is the deputy national chairman (north), Inuwa Abdulkadir, the national vice-chairman (northwest). They were suspended over alleged anti-party activities.

Former governor of Ogun state Ibikunle Amosu, Imo former governor Rochas Okorocha and the incumbent governor of Ondo Rotimi Akeredolu were also suspended for the same reason but were later reinstated Lukman stressed in the memo that it is pertinent to bring all aggrieved and suspended members together, urging the working committee to review the resolution suspending some members of the party.
