Black Stars of Ghana have qualified for the play-off round of Qatar 2022 World Cup after defeating South Africa 1-0, reports www.totorinews.com.
Andre Ayew, who won his 100 caps for Ghana in the game made it a day to be remembered with his solitary goal from the spot in the 31st minute, which made the difference in the must-win encounter for Ghana at Cape Coast Stadium.
Ayew converted from the penalty spot after Daniel Amartey was fouled inside the box.
Both teams finished the group with 13 points, but the four – time champions scored seven goals, while South Africa had six goals to their advantage. So, Ghana had the better goals advantage to progress.
South Africa had earlier beaten Ghana with the same margin in September.
