The recently inaugurated 2020 Caretaker Committee of the Anambra State Football Association, on Thursday 13th of August, 2020, paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker, Anambra State of Assembly, Hon. Uche Okafor.
The Committee is headed by the Chairman, Dr. Emeka Okeke. The purpose of the visit as outlined by the Chairman of the Committee, Dr. Emeka Okeke, was to intimate the Speaker on the recent development of in the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA).
The Committee Chairman explained that the Committee has been given a mandate to ensure that Anambra State Football is developed at the grassroot level. Dr. Emeka Okeke briefed the Speaker on the MY ANAMBRA FOOTBALL CAMPAIGN which would involve promoting football activities and participation in the various LGAs of the State.
The Committee outlined the recent progress made by the Committee since it’s inauguration. The Committee had moved the location of the Anambra State Football Association Office from a one room to a Duplex located at Udoka Estate.
The Committee made known its plans to improve football activities in Anambra and boost Anambra Football Performance in the nation. Some of the plans of the Committee as outlined by the Chairman are;
-The training of a Coach in all LGAs of the state
-The erection of a standard NLO pitch in every LGA of the State
The Chairman of the Committee also presented to the Speaker T-shirts and Caps of the MY ANAMBRA FOOTBALL CAMPAIGN.
In his response, The Speaker welcomed and congratulated the Committee members on their appointment and inauguration. Rt.Hon Uche Okafor expressed his dissatisfaction with the deteriorated nature of football in Anambra State and thanked the Committee for taking up the project of developing and rebranding football in Anambra State.
The Speaker pledged his full support to the Committee in attainment of the committee’s objectives. He further encouraged the Committee to put in hardwork and commitment in order to achieve the the goals set by the association. He also promised to provide the committee with assistance in whatever way including reaching out to the various LGAs of the state.
In conclusion, the house Committee Chairman on Sports Development, Hon. Nobel Igwe commended the Committee for their efforts in carrying out the project.
In his words he said, “You have taken the right step in the right direction”. He also urged the Committee to strive to revamp football in schools as it would help to develop local football in the state. He thanked the Committee and promised to work with the committee to ensure that football in Anambra State gets to its Zenith.
