Abridged League Less Manipulative – Ex. Nigerian League Player

As NPFL clubs intensify preparations for the match day one fixtures of the season this weekend, Adeyemi Anthony Adedeji has said that abridged league is less manipulative, reports www.totorinews.com.

Adedeji, who played for Stationery Stores in the 90’s before jetting out of the country for professional football abroad said that this year’s league will be more competitive among the teams in the two groups of the abridged league.

“The abridged league is less manipulative. What the IMC has done is the best for the Nigeria league. It will make the league to be better than before because the days of playing straight league witnessed lots of manipulations in the league,” Adedeji told the media in Abuja on Wednesday.

“Now that we have two groups, every team will be fighting to get good results both home and away. I am very certain that the league will  be highly competitive this season under abridged league format.

“In a straightforward league, there are some teams that have the edge to manipulate games in their favour as they battle to survive relegation.

“But in this situation, every team will be looking for a way to fight for themselves to gather points legitimately on the field,” he said.
